Providing you tools you need to live your best life

Welcome! It’s my mission- it’s the entire Apex Dental team’s mission- to provide you the tools to live your best life.

I have spent countless hours of post-graduate study of the parallels between oral conditions and chronic systemic disease. Overwhelmingly, ill health is rooted in a breakdown in one or more of the 4 pillars of health. Sleep. Nutrition. Breathing. Movement.

The mouth and jaws play a central role. Modern, industrialized lifestyle brings an epidemic of underdeveloped jaws. Anthropology shows that this was not always the case. Pre-industrialized population studies consistently show the absence of the chronic diseases that plague modern society, as well as perfectly developed large jaws with all 32 teeth- yes that includes wisdom teeth!

The hazards of poorly developed jaws go far beyond just crowded teeth. Consider this. Your maxilla- the upper jaw and roof of your mouth- is also the floor of your nose.  If your maxilla is underdeveloped, your nasal airway above and your pharyngeal airway behind are underdeveloped. Small airways bring resistant airflow. Resistant airflow brings sympathetic “fight-or-flight” overdrive and disrupted sleep. Disrupted sleep prevents detoxification and regeneration that is vital to health, a problem compounded by poor nutrient content of today’s food system. Chronic inflammation and disease are fueled by the inability to repair and to detoxify from all of the toxins that modern lifestyle throws at us: in our food, in our air, in our water, in our self care products, in everything.

As long as we give our body the tools it needs, we can not only survive but thrive. Maximize the pillars: Sleep, Breathing, Nutrition, Movement. Minimize the killers: Toxins, Inflammation. As life allows, I will work hard to post content here to explain further.

Stay tuned!
