      Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first appointment typically lasts 90 minutes. This gives us enough time for a full exam, any necessary X-rays, and a personal conversation about your dental goals, concerns, and health history—without feeling rushed.

      Do you accept my insurance?
Insurance plans can vary, but we can help you navigate your coverage. Give us a call at 515.224.1618, and we’ll help verify your updated coverage and answer any questions.
What if I don’t have dental insurance?

No insurance? No problem. We offer flexible payment options and in-house membership plans to help make care affordable.

How early should I arrive for my first appointment?

Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to ensure you’re on time and to allow us to get you settled in.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your ID, insurance card (if applicable), and a list of any medications you’re currently taking.

If you’ve seen another dentist in the past five years, ask their office to email us any X-rays they’ve taken during that time. They can send them to info@apexdentaliowa.com.

How often should I see the dentist?

Most patients benefit from a cleaning and checkup every six months. But if you have gum issues, a history of dental work, or other risk factors, we may recommend a custom schedule.

Do you treat children and families?

Yes! We welcome patients of all ages and are happy to schedule family visits together when possible.

What if I have dental anxiety?

You’re not alone—and we totally get it. At Apex Dental, we take pride in creating a low-stress, judgment-free space where you can actually feel at ease.

Whether it’s been six months or sixteen years since your last visit, we’re just glad you’re here. Let us know how you’re feeling ahead of time, and we’ll do everything we can to make your experience calm, comfortable, and positive.

What happens if I need additional treatment after my first exam?

We’ll explain everything clearly, including your options, costs, and timeline, so you can make an informed decision.

How do I reschedule an appointment?

Just give our office a call at 515.224.1618, and we’ll be happy to help you find a new time that works for you.
