How does Dr. Mindy use clear aligners?
Dr. Mindy is a firm believer in facially focused orthodontics. Not only should teeth be aligned, but they should be aligned in a position that compliments the face and fills the smile.
Rather than removing teeth or shaving them down to narrow them, Dr. Mindy utilizes an expansive technique to create jaw form that fits all of the teeth in beautiful alignment. The result is a pleasing smile, stable TMJs, and adequate space for the tongue to fit within the jaws.
How is my treatment plan made?
The journey begins with an in-depth evaluation with Dr. Mindy. This starts with a comprehensive questionnaire that delves into your medical history, your aspirations, and your present condition. This is followed by a series of photos and advanced 3D imaging, enabling Dr. Mindy to thoroughly assess your teeth, jaws, airway, and TMJ. The Apex team then takes precise measurements and engages in a detailed conversation with you, ensuring they gain a comprehensive understanding of your needs—all within a single appointment!
Following this, Dr. Mindy crafts a personalized treatment plan, providing a realistic projection of the outcome and a timeline. The team then proceeds with a full digital scan of your mouth. Using this information, Dr. Mindy meticulously designs the case, customizing it to meet the unique needs of each patient. The design is then sent to our top-notch lab for creation. When you pick up your first aligners, Apex Dental will:
- Ensure the clear aligners fit well
- Answer any and all questions you may have
- Let you know what to expect in the following weeks
What to expect with clear aligners:
- You will wear each set of aligners for one to two weeks.
- We’ll schedule check-ups every four to six weeks to check your progress. You’ll also pick up the next batch of aligners. We’ll adjust times and fit issues as needed.
- When you start wearing each new set of aligners, you may feel a little extra pressure or discomfort for the first few days. This is totally normal.
