Crowns Bridges Veneers

Crowns

Dental crowns are “caps” that cover your entire tooth. In order to place them, your tooth needs to be shaped before the crown is cemented over your remaining tooth structure. Crowns improve color, shape, and size of a tooth. At Apex Dental, our crowns are made using state-of-the-art computer aided design and are fabricated from the strongest and most aesthetic ceramic materials available today.

Some reasons why you may need a crown include: a large cavity, fractured or worn down teeth, protection after root canal treatment, or coverage of a discolored or misshapen tooth. During your exam at Apex Dental, our doctors will look thoroughly for any of these conditions and inform you if you may benefit from a crown.

Veneers

A veneer is a thin layer of ceramic or composite resin that is bonded to the front of the tooth. Veneers are a relatively quick and conservative solution to correcting many aesthetic problems including chipped, worn, crooked, misshapen, discolored and spaced teeth. Typically, there is little or no removal of the existing tooth before placing the veneer over the tooth. If you would like to know if this aesthetic treatment option is right for you, ask our doctors at your next exam.

Bridges

A dental bridge is designed to replace one or more missing teeth by using adjacent teeth or implants for support. The bridge is fixed in your mouth and cannot be removed, so you don’t have to worry about your teeth coming out when eating or talking.

A tooth supported bridge is fabricated by preparing the adjacent teeth for crowns and using them to support a single ceramic bridge of teeth that replaces the missing tooth/teeth. An implant supported bridge is the same concept that can very efficiently replace a longer span of missing teeth, as its anchor crowns are placed on dental implants rather than prepared teeth. Like crowns, our bridges are made of a high strength ceramic that mimics tooth shade and contour.

If you have a missing tooth, the adjacent teeth can begin shifting over time towards the gap left by the missing tooth, resulting in bite misalignment and increased stress on remaining teeth. There are multiple options for tooth replacement, and our team at Apex Dental is very experienced in all of them. If you are missing any teeth, come see us today for an evaluation of replacement options.
